Delcam customer Zytek in one-two-three at Le Mans

Delcam customer Zytek provided engines for the first three cars in the LMP2 class of the 90th anniversary Le Mans

Cars with engines developed and serviced by Delcam customer, Zytek, finished first, second and third in the LMP2 class of the 90th anniversary Le Mans 24-hours endurance race.  The OAK Racing Morgan of Bertrand Baguette, Ricardo Gonzalez and Martin Plowman led home the sister car of Olivier Pla, Alex Brundle and David Heinemeier, both powered by the Zytek-Nissan VK45DE.  Greaves Motorsport finished third with its car featuring the Zytek-Nissan engine and the Zytek Z11SN chassis.

The  victory is the second at Le Mans for the 4.5-litre V8 engine, which has been developed and  serviced by Zytek.  In 2011, an identical power unit powered the Greaves Motorsport Z11SN chassis to victory in the LMP2 class.

Zytek has been a Delcam customer since 2004, when the company first started using the PowerMILL CAM system to program its range of Mori-Seiki machine tools.  Since then, the two companies have worked together to develop novel machining strategies for motorsport components.  The main focus for the partnership has been on more efficient five-axis machining of inlet and exhaust ports.  The results have included reductions in machining times of up to 60%, together with better quality and consistency.
