Delcam Turkiye in World Cup win at DMG/Mori Seiki Open House
Delcam Turkiye, the subsidiary formed by Delcam in Turkey last year, took part in its first Open House with DMG/Mori Seiki at the machine-tool company’s Istanbul showroom from 29th May to 1st June. More than 150 people attended the Open House, including representatives from leading companies from Turkey’s automotive, mouldmaking and production machining industries.
For the event, a replica of the FIFA World Cup trophy was programmed in Delcam’s PowerMILL CAM software for high-speed and five-axis machining, and machined on DMU 80 EVO linear five-axis machine tool. The machine, which was being demonstrated in Turkey for the first time, features a completely new gantry design that gives improved rigidity and precision.
The demonstration took advantage of the extensive range of strategies for five-axis machining in PowerMILL. For the 2013 release, this functionality has been improved with an increased number of options for tool-axis definition. For raster toolpaths, the lead and lean angles can now be defined relative to a contact normal. In addition, better control is now possible for the tool-axis definition when using the To or From a Point, Line or Curve strategies. These improvements make it easier for users to control the contact angle between the cutter and the part, and so set the optimum cutting conditions for efficient machining and quality of surface finish.
Delcam Turkiye, which is staffed by local experts in CADCAM technology, was founded by Delcam in Istanbul last year. Together with its resellers in the country, it has produced an increase in sales in Turkey of more than 50% in the first four months of 2013 compared to the same period last year.If you have any enquiries on this or any article, select to view contact details.
