New Ceramics Design Centre Specifies Delcam CADCAM

An example from Wedgwood of ceramic design using Delcam's Power Solution.

The Hothouse, a major new centre for ceramic design in Stoke-on-Trent, has specified Delcam's Power Solution software for its computer-aided product design and model making facilities. The centre aims to provide a major resource of high technology design and manufacturing tools at the very heart of the UK's ceramics industry. Hothouse manager, Andrew Briggs, anticipates that the software will play a central role in meeting these objectives.

"CADCAM is not as well established in the ceramics industry as it is in other areas." explained Andrew. "Even when they can foresee benefits to their businesses, smaller companies are often reluctant to invest in new technology that they have never used before. Since being adopted by major companies like Wedgwood and Royal Doulton, the Power Solution has become recognised as an extremely useful tool with great benefits in the ceramics industry. By using the Hothouse, small businesses will have access to exactly the same resources as the largest manufacturers."

The Hothouse will allow these smaller companies to experiment with the latest advances in ceramic design technology before making any capital investment. All the equipment will be available as and when clients need it, and, most importantly, at an appropriate cost. Furthermore, comprehensive technical support will be available as required to ensure that customers can successfully combine the new technology with their traditional skills in the most effective manner.
