Your Homes Newcastle

Your Homes Newcastle (YHN) is the Arms-Length Management Organisation (ALMO) which is responsible for the management of properties owned by Newcastle City Council. YHN was set up by Newcastle City Council to oversee the day to day management of a £500m investment programme to improve its properties to meet the DCLG’s Decent Homes Standard by the 2010 deadline.

YHN has a mission ‘To deliver excellent services and modern homes that people want to live in’. With 32,000 properties to bring up to standard and 12 partners carrying out the work, the size of the maintenance programme grew rapidly. An example of the scale of the change involved in the new programme is seen in the number of kitchens that need to be replaced - a move from installing 91 kitchens per year, to 115 per week – nearly 6,000 per year.

YHN looked at several suppliers in the marketplace to provide a solution to manage the programme, collaborate with construction partners and keep a full audit trail of communication.
