Hayley

Applications Engineer

Having graduated from Brunel University with a 1st class honours in Product Design BSc in 2012, I wanted a career that would suit my skills and expertise. I always enjoyed the CAD and manufacturing aspect of Product Design, and in my final year I chose to evolve my major project around the creation of new, biodegradable, composite polymers, creating the CAD, engineering drawings and injection moulding samples of the materials.

I’d used a number of different CAD packages throughout my university career including Pro Engineer, Solidworks and Alias. I’d never used Delcam products before but I had heard of Delcam for Solidworks and was interested in the international travel aspects the job had to offer.

In my first two weeks at Delcam I was given a crash course in PowerSHAPE, PowerMILL and ArtCAM. I then spent my first 10 weeks in the ArtCAM department, creating a variety of intricate reliefs to be given out in future releases of the software. I also demonstrated the new Texture Flow tool to over 100 Sales Partners at the annual meeting in January.

Following this I became one of the few people at Delcam HQ to become fluent in ArtCAM JewelSmith, I am now often consulted by a number of Delcam staff for support in this area.

One of my favourite tasks at Delcam to date was being sent so Salt Lake City, Utah, where I learnt another of Delcam’s products, FeatureCAM. I loved this placement; I learnt so much and was sent to the Pasadena office in LA for a week for an extra training program. I presented all of FeatureCAM’s 2012 R2’s new features at the US Technical Sales Partner meeting where I received some very positive feedback.

Now I am at the stage where I can train people online and support them after the training has ended. I am currently working in PowerINSPECT creating and updating the training materials for On Machine Verification and creating videos for the biggest machine tool trade show in Hannover in September later this year.

I love working at Delcam, the people are all so friendly and welcoming, and having just completed the graduate programme I’m thrilled to now be joining the International Support department as a permanent member of the team.
